Indigenous Youth Permaculture Workshop

Getting back from the fall caravan (update about that soon to follow!) we realize that the 2012 Youth Permaculture Workshop needs a little follow-up post.  We had a lot of fun and even though our group was pretty small, we completed a cobb oven like the one we practiced with at Blacktail Permaculture before heading out.  The pictures can speak for themselves:

Working on the oven, mixing cobb out of the clay-like soil of Black Mesa…

And we put all hands on deck for the finishing touches…

Everyone with the finished outdoor oven:

We invited community members over for a feast, and a lot of thanks to Black Mesa Indigenous Support for purchasing a sheep for us..

We are hoping that we can organize more youth next time, and continue to support youth returning to the land to learn skills of working with the land and support the ongoing resistance to relocation at Black Mesa.

We want to offer the deepest gratitude to everyone who helped us make this trip happen, and hope that we can keep building up this network of support from Colorado.
