Dear Friends and Allies,
This September, members of Black Mesa Colorado Caravan will be heading back to Black Mesa to facilitate a three-day Indigenous Permaculture workshop with local youth! Throughout the year, supporters have been working to bring more visibility and support to the amazing efforts lead by community members to involve Dineh youth in projects to connect them to elders, to their language, culture, lifeways, spiritual practices, and legacies of resistance.
We will be growing this momentum by working with youth to create passive solar systems and prepare the soil for spring planting of fruit trees. It is our hope that this small trip will be the first steps of an ongoing Permaculture program in the area, and help build long-term relationships with local schools.
We are now accepting donations to make this workshop possible. For this particular trip, we are in need of monetary donations for gas costs, food, and seeds and tree-lings for the projects. Please also check out our on-going “Materials Wish List.”
Thank you so much for your continued support of the youth and elders of Black Mesa and Big Mountain. Let’s help heal the soil and grow some food!
